Slippery Elm to the Rescue

Do you ever have one of those days when the morning starts out with a sip of hot coffee that was a little too hot?  Dang!  Now your tongue is stinging and you know that every time you eat, drink or even talk you will be reminded of your morning's mishap.

Don't despair!  If you have slippery elm bark powder on hand all will be well.

If you are ambitious and the type that thinks ahead you can make a slippery elm bark lozenges by mixing the powdered herb with honey, rolling into small balls, and drying them thoroughly before storing in a glass jar.  But if you are like me, you will just dip a moistened finger into the powder and place it on your tongue.  If you touch the top of your mouth with your tongue the powder will stick there.  Continue to gently rub your tongue on the bark and soon the burning sensation will be gone and you can look forward to enjoying your day.

As with most herbs this one has a multitude of uses including soothing internal or external inflammations and sore throats, calming burns, and improving digestive problems such as diarrhea and constipation.

Please note: The objective of this blog is to raise awareness of alternative ways to achieve wellness and to empower you to take an active role in your health decisions.  To accomplish this, you will need to explore these subjects in greater depth and then determine what makes sense for your life.  My hope is that this information will inspire you to start your own search into ways to make your life happier, healthier and more fulfilling.
