If you have ever had a toothache you know that tooth pain can be excruciating and debilitating. It is hard to think of anything else when your mouth is throbbing and it hurts to eat, drink, talk and even breath.
My husband dipped a cotton ball into the clove oil and positioned it over the sore area in his mouth. In a few minutes the pain was greatly reduced. Soon the pain had disappeared and whatever was brewing in his tooth was back under control and he never had to go to the dentist. This past week I was experiencing pain in an area of my mouth where my tooth enamel has eroded. These are spots that are typically more sensitive. I found the clove oil and rubbed it on the effected area and felt better almost immediately.
If you find yourself in need of relief and don't have infused clove oil on hand, you can simply place a whole clove in your mouth and gently bite down on it until you notice relief from the pain. Powdered cloves can also be placed poultice-like on the tooth for the same effect. Some people use clove essential oil with similar results. Just be sure to read the label as essential oils are highly concentrated and most need to be diluted with a carrier oil before application.
Although there are many more herbs that can be used for tooth pain, I like cloves because most kitchens will have them in stock. If your cloves have been sitting in your cupboard for years they will not be as effective. Fresh, quality herbs are necessary for good results. (One of the reasons some people don't believe in the healing power of herbs is because they have used sub-standard products that have not achieved results.)
Give cloves a try the next time you need immediate relief from tooth/mouth pain.

Unfortunately most dentists cannot get you in to their clinic at the drop of a hat or even treat the pain without a few days delay. And why is it that tooth pain nearly always begins after office hours on a Friday evening?

This is what happened to my husband several months ago. He was experiencing tooth pain and we knew we were looking at a long uncomfortable weekend unless we could somehow get the pain to subside on our own.
Luckily I had read about cloves and their ability to numb pain on contact, fight infection and reduce inflammation. Always experimenting in my kitchen (aka laboratory) I had infused whole cloves in olive olive.
